Telephone calls will be triaged by our receptionist, who will either refer you to the appointment desk, billing, or to our registered nurse, who can answer many of your basic medical questions. For more serious problems or technical questions, your call will be forwarded to your primary care provider. If your doctor is not in the office, the doctor on call will address your concern. Calls will be returned on a priority basis. If you feel your problem is an emergency, please tell the receptionist and your call will be handled immediately.

After Hours Calls

Our after-hours service is designed for urgent and emergency calls that can’t wait until morning. If you are having a life-threatening emergency, call 911. A Birth & Family Clinic physician is on-call twenty-four hours a day for urgent care needs. If you call Birth & Family Clinic after hours, our answering service will forward you to the physician on-call.

For other after-hours medical questions, many insurance companies provide a nurse line that can help answer non-urgent questions. Check your insurer's web site or the back of your insurance card for contact information. For pediatric medical questions, Children's Hospital also has a 24 hour nurse line at (866) 987-2500.
