What is Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment?
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is a form of manual medicine applied by a physician to alleviate somatic dysfunction and related ailments. Osteopathic physicians use OMT to find and treat tension in the soft tissues and joints. Alleviating the dysfunction can relieve pain and improve patient mobility and flexibility.

Dr. Skariah's expertise using OMT brings an important dimension to standard medical care. Treatments are generally spaced two weeks apart and patients typically show improvement within four to six treatments.

How do I schedule an appointment for OMT?
Check with your Primary Care Provider (PCP) first. If your PCP believes this may be an appropriate treatment for your, then call Birth & Family Clinic at (425) 640-4950 to speak with the scheduling professionals to request an appointment for an OMT evaluation/consultation.

What happens after I am referred for OMT at Birth & Family Clinic?
During the initial evaluation, Dr. Skariah determines if osteopathic manipulation treatment is an appropriate treatment modality. Based on this evaluation, you are either scheduled for OMT or referred back to your primary provider.

All patients who are scheduled for OMT will go through an insurance pre-approval process prior to receiving treatment so that they are aware of what their insurance carrier will and will not cover.

Primary providers will be notified once an evaluation has been made.
