Our Providers
At Birth & Family Clinic we believe the best health care can be provided when you partner with your own Primary Care Provider (PCP). A PCP is a medical care professional who connects with you on a regular basis, who knows you well, who understands your medical history and your healthcare needs, and someone you can trust. To help you in the PCP selection process we would like to identify more clearly the initials that follow the names of our providers along with a brief biographical piece for each provider. We promise, no matter who you select as your PCP at Birth & Family, to always provide excellent medical care.
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) - Medical Doctors obtain a four year college degree with four more years in an accredited medical school. All of the Birth & Family doctors have then received additional three or more years of specialty training in Family Practice and Board Certification in Family Medicine.
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) - Osteopathic physicians have the same rights and privileges as M.D.'s. Their training is similar to that of a medical doctor with the addition of osteopathic manipulative medicine techniques. This is followed by an additional residency program in Family Practice and Board Certification in Family Medicine.
Physician Assistant - Certified (P.A.-C.) - Physician assistants are certified medical providers who work under the supervision of a licensed medical or osteopathic physician. They must have at least a bachelor's degree and complete a Physician Assistant training program that is accredited by the National Commission of Physician Assistants. The PA-C's are trained to diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, and write prescriptions. They can serve as a patient's regular health care provider.
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (A.R.N.P.) - A Nurse Practitioner is a Registered Nurse (R.N.) who has completed advanced education beyond the initial nursing degree. This requires a minimum of a master's degree in the diagnosis and management of medical conditions. The A.R.N.P. will provide much of the same care as the M.D. or D.O. with emphasis on prevention and education. A Nurse Practitioner also can serve as your primary care provider.
As you see, Birth & Family offers well trained and experienced medical providers to partner with you and ensure you have access to the best of health care in a safe and caring environment. We welcome the opportunity to serve you and your medical needs.
